- 1 loaf of brioche bread (about 12 cups, cubed)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
- Butter, for greasing the baking dish
- Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
- Cut the brioche into 1-inch cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the brioche cubes. Gently toss until all the bread is soaked in the custard mixture.
- If desired, fold in raisins or chocolate chips for added flavor.
- Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
- For a finishing touch, dust the top with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute milk with almond milk for a dairy-free option.
- Feel free to add nuts for extra crunch.
