Description
Chocolate Pecan Pie Bread Pudding is a delightful dessert that combines rich chocolate and crunchy pecans in a creamy custard base.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups day-old bread, cut into cubes
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 4 cups whole milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup maple syrup
- Whipped cream, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Place the bread cubes in a large bowl. Add the chopped pecans and chocolate chips, tossing to mix evenly.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, and maple syrup until well combined.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread mixture, ensuring all the bread is soaked. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the liquid.
- Pour the soaked bread mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the custard is set.
- Remove from the oven and let the pudding cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
- Cut into squares and serve warm, topped with whipped cream if desired.
Notes
- Use day-old bread for best results.
- Feel free to substitute nuts or chocolate types as preferred.
