  • Holiday sprinkles
  • Powdered sugar (dusting)

Instructions

  1. If making homemade, mix flour and salt, cut in butter, add ice water, roll out, and place in pie dish. For store-bought, fit crust into dish and crimp edges.
  2. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes to prevent sogginess.
  3. Heat milk over low heat until steaming—do not boil.
  4. Whisk eggs, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
  5. Slowly whisk warm milk into egg mixture to prevent curdling.
  6. For ultra-smooth texture, strain custard through a mesh sieve.
  7. Pour custard into warm crust and bake at 325°F (165°C) for 35–45 minutes until center is slightly jiggly.
  8. Cool 1 hour on a rack, then refrigerate 3–4 hours before slicing.
