Description
Golden, flaky spirals filled with melty cheese and savory ham, perfect for parties, school lunches, or as a last-minute appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 275 g store-bought puff pastry, thawed
- 200 g sliced deli ham, thinly sliced
- 200 g sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 30 g Dijon mustard
- 1 large egg + 15 ml water (for egg wash)
- 1 tsp dried oregano (optional)
- Pinch of kosher salt
- Pinch of black pepper
Instructions
- Thaw and prepare puff pastry: Unfold puff pastry and let it sit on the counter for 20–30 minutes until pliable but still cool.
- Lay out the filling: Spread Dijon mustard over the pastry, leaving a border. Scatter cheddar and top with ham. Season with salt, pepper, and oregano.
- Roll tightly: Starting from the opposite edge, roll the pastry into a tight log and seal the edge with egg wash.
- Chill the log: Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and chill for 10–15 minutes.
- Slice and arrange: Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and slice the log into 24 pieces, placing them on a lined baking sheet.
- Egg wash and bake: Brush each pinwheel with the egg wash and bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
For a lighter option, replace half the cheese with low-fat mozzarella. If using gluten-free puff pastry, expect a slightly different texture.
