Description
Hot Honey Chicken is a flavorful dish combining crispy chicken thighs with a sweet and spicy honey glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine chicken thighs and buttermilk. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat about ½ inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each thigh in the flour mixture until well coated.
- Carefully place the coated chicken thighs in the hot oil. Fry for about 7-8 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
- In a small saucepan, combine honey and hot sauce over low heat. Stir until smooth and well blended.
- Once cooked, remove chicken from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- While still hot, drizzle the hot honey sauce generously over the chicken.
- Allow the chicken to rest for 5-10 minutes to let the flavors meld.
Notes
- This dish pairs well with a side of coleslaw or cornbread.
- Adjust the level of hot sauce to suit your taste.
