- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter
- ½ cup (65g) all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp (15g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ⅔ cup (135g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling
- Optional: chopped nuts, mini chocolate chips, or caramel bits
Instructions
- In a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, melt chocolate chips and butter together until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs, sugar, and vanilla for 3–4 minutes until pale and fluffy.
- Stir in the melted chocolate mixture, then gently fold in the dry ingredients until combined. Batter will be thick.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Drop spoonfuls of batter onto a lined baking sheet, sprinkle with sea salt, and bake for 10–12 minutes until tops are shiny and cracked.
- Let cookies cool for 5 minutes on the pan before transferring to a rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
