Description

Experience the magical combination of orange and chocolate with these festive Christmas truffles. Rich, velvety cocoa meets zesty orange for a nostalgic holiday treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200g dark chocolate (around 70% cocoa)
  • 120ml heavy cream
  • Zest of 1 large orange
  • 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Cocoa powder, shredded coconut, or crushed nuts (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Finely chop the dark chocolate and place it in a heatproof bowl. Grate the orange zest directly over the chocolate.
  2. Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it begins to simmer. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let sit for one minute.
  3. Stir the mixture gently until the chocolate is fully melted, glossy, and smooth. Add the orange juice, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir again to blend.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or until firm enough to scoop.
  5. Use a small cookie scoop or spoon to portion out the truffles. Roll each portion between your palms to form a smooth ball.
  6. Roll each truffle in cocoa powder, shredded coconut, or crushed nuts for a festive finish. Place them on a parchment-lined tray or in mini cupcake wrappers.
  7. Chill the Orange Chocolate Christmas Truffles in the fridge until ready to serve or package.

Notes

  • These truffles make a lovely edible gift when packed in a small tin or wrapped in tissue-lined boxes.
  • Get creative with coatings: crushed candy canes, matcha powder, or festive sprinkles are great alternatives.
  • For a dairy-free version, use coconut cream and dairy-free dark chocolate.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days.
  • Freeze in a sealed container for up to 2 months; thaw in the fridge before serving.
