Pioneer Woman Baked Catfish is an incredible recipe that delivers crispy and flavorful fish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 catfish fillets
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for spice)
- Cooking spray or melted butter for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare a baking dish by spraying it with cooking spray or greasing it with melted butter.
- Place the catfish fillets in a shallow dish and pour the buttermilk over them. Allow the fish to soak for about 10-15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Remove the fillets from the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge each fillet in the cornmeal mixture until well coated.
- Place the coated fillets in the prepared baking dish, ensuring they are spaced evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and the coating is golden brown and crispy.
- The fish should flake easily with a fork and reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
- Once done, remove the baking dish from the oven and allow the fish to rest for a few minutes before serving.
