Description

Popeyes Chicken Sandwich – Ultimate Crispy Delight

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 4 burger buns
  • Dill pickles (slices)
  • Mayonnaise (to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken breasts and marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
  3. In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  4. Remove chicken from the buttermilk and let any excess drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring it is fully coated.
  5. Carefully place chicken in the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  6. Remove chicken and let it drain on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  7. While the chicken is draining, toast the burger buns lightly in the leftover oil or on a pan to achieve a crispy texture.
  8. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Place a piece of fried chicken on top, add dill pickle slices, and cover with the top half of the bun.
  9. Serve the sandwiches hot, with your favorite sides.
