- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 ¼ cups (270g) all-purpose flour

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the flour to the creamed mixture, mixing until a soft, pliable dough forms.
- Roll the dough into 1 to 1½-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Gently flatten each dough ball. If desired, sprinkle extra sugar on top.
- Bake for 14 to 16 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
