Description

Mixed Berry Bread Pudding is a delightful dessert combining stale bread and mixed berries in a rich custard.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups of stale bread, cubed
  • 2 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cubed stale bread and mixed berries. Toss gently to mix.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the custard mixture over the bread and berries. Gently stir to ensure the bread absorbs the liquid.
  5. Allow the mixture to sit for about 15 minutes, giving the bread time to soak up the custard.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the bread mixture and stir gently.
  7. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.
  9. Just before serving, dust the top with powdered sugar for an elegant touch.
